الذهب هو أكبر سوق لجميع المعادن الثمينة، و ذلك بسبب خصائص تخزين القيمة الاستثنائية و العديد من الاستخدامات الصناعية. و غالبًا ما يُنظر إليها على أنها "ملاذ آمن" للإستثمار و هي مطلوبة في أوقات عدم اليقين الاقتصادي. يدرج الذهب عادة في محفظة المستثمرين الذين يبحثون عن التنوع و هو أداة مثيرة للاهتمام من قبل المتداولين، بسبب التقلبات العالية و الاتجاهات القوية.
